PublicHealthMaps Three Years Later…

Can we all agree how fast time flies? June 27th marks exactly three years since the founding of PublicHealthMaps! In that time, we’ve been making strides to help empower people with greater understanding about public health, maps, and a variety of other topics. Our efforts have included increasing our online resources available to people, expanding our pool of talented volunteers, and growing our presence on social media.

At the same time, we all find ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic, an economic crisis, and social upheaval not witnessed in generations. These have laid bare the health disparities and inequities that have existed in our society and we have unfortunately seen at-risk populations bear the brunt of this.

There’s still much more to go, but we hope to add value during this time by providing timely and relevant information to help you understand what’s happening in the world and to help you empower you with the resources to help you be part of the solution to the problems that we all face.

Here is a quick rundown of our latest additions and what we have in store for the future:

Emily K. Dalton is our new Digital Strategy Lead where she will be bringing her unique set of experiences and an outlook toward the future to help PublicHealthMaps address the most relevant topics of the day.

With an eye on how the past affects our future, be on the lookout for Emily’s insightful perspective on the future of public health and all things technology.

Sydney Garcia is our new Environmental Health Lead. Her background in GIS and her current role as a National Parks Service Fellow have placed her in a perfect position to focus on issues related to green spaces, active transport, the built environment, climate change and more.
