MONTHLY
Minority Mental Health Awareness Month
During National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in July, the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) will continue to highlight its free and accredited e-learning program: Improving Cultural Competency for Behavioral Health Professionals. This program is part of OMH’s Think Cultural Health E-learning courses, which are developed to help health professionals develop the knowledge and skills to deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate services. OMH operates the Think Cultural Health website and provides free e-learning courses in support of the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services in Health and Health Care (National CLAS Standards).
During July, OMH will also highlight resources to support people’s mental and emotional wellbeing while following the social distancing guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to stop the spread of COVID-19. OMH encourages all our partners to join us in educating communities about the importance of mental healthcare and treatment and to help break down barriers, such as negative perceptions about mental illness.
Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month
July is Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month, a month dedicated to increase awareness over early signs and symptoms of juvenile arthritis and to ease the focus of resources for this battle. The campaign was initiated by the Arthritis Foundation and targets a condition that currently affects 300,000 children nationwide, making it one of the most common childhood diseases in the US.
WEEKLY
London Climate Action Week
LCAW Digital (1-3 July) brought together world-leading experts and policy makers to drive the national and international Covid-19 climate policy response, prioritising green recovery. Events focused on three key areas:
Green investment to rebuild economies;

Tracking Awareness Week
CDC’s National Environmental Public Health Tracking Program is hosting the fifth annual Tracking Awareness Week from July 6-10, 2020. CDC, state and local health departments, partners, researchers, and people interested in environmental health are coming together to highlight important nationwide environmental health issues as well as recognize the work of the Tracking Program.
DAILY
Global Environmental Health Day 2020
The theme of NIEHS’ fourth annual Global Environmental Health Day was "Science at the Cutting Edge of Global Environmental Change and Health."
GEH Day serves as an opportunity to bring together a global community of colleagues to explore areas of interest and discuss new ideas, to form collaborations and share common goals.
WORLD MANGROVE DAY
The International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, adopted by the General Conference of UNESCO in 2015 and celebrated each year on 26 July, aims to raise awareness of the importance of mangrove ecosystems as “a unique, special and vulnerable ecosystem" and to promote solutions for their sustainable management, conservation and uses.
World Day Against Trafficking in Persons
Human trafficking is a crime that exploits women, children and men for numerous purposes including forced labour and sex. Since 2003 the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has collected information on about 225,000 victims of trafficking detected worldwide. Globally countries are detecting and reporting more victims, and are convicting more traffickers. This can be the result of increased capacity to identify victims and/or an increased number of trafficked victims.
